A cop was arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police - Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP - IMEG) in Zamboanga Del Norte on Thursday afternoon due to alleged robbery-extortion activities.

On Friday, police identified the accused police officer as Police Captain Haran Ulah, chief of the Godod Municipal Police Station.

According to PNP - IMEG chief Police Brigadier General Ronald Lee, authorities have received a complaint from stating that Ulah was allegedly asking P10,000 from him last May 29 in exchange for the former's unhampered treasure hunting activities in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Raba.

Ulah was arrested during an entrapment operation in which he had received marked money worth P5,000 from the complainant.

Seized from the suspect were his issued M16 rifle and cal. 45 pistol, two cellphones, and the marked money worth P5,000.

Lee assured the public that the PNP - IMEG's operation against erring policemen would continue amid the ongoing enforcement of quarantine measures due to COVID-19.

"We assure the public too that we will immediately and properly act on all complaints against erring police officers and men being forwarded to us,” Lee said.?— Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
